Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and FilingIndex. By using the site you accept them. If you don't, please don't use it.
The short version: FilingIndex is a free research tool, not financial advice. The data can be wrong or stale — check the original filing before you act on anything. Be decent in the discussions. Don't use the site to manipulate a market.
1. Nothing here is investment advice
FilingIndex is an information tool. We are not an investment adviser, a broker-dealer, or your fiduciary, and using the site does not create any advisory relationship. Nothing on it is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything.
Our summaries, headlines, rankings, scores, and signals are generated automatically. They are a starting point for your own research, not a conclusion, and they are not tailored to your circumstances. Investing carries risk, including total loss. Decide for yourself, and talk to a licensed professional if you need advice.
2. The data, and its limits
- Filing data comes from SEC EDGAR, the public-domain system of record for U.S. corporate disclosure.
- Summaries and plain-English headlines are AI-generated. They can be incomplete, misleading, or simply wrong.
- Data can be delayed, missing, mis-parsed, or out of date. Market data and derived figures are no exception.
- The filing itself is the record — not our version of it. Verify against the original on EDGAR before you rely on anything here.
3. Your account
Sign-in works by emailing a link to your address. Keep access to that inbox secure — anyone holding the link can get into your account, and you are responsible for what happens under it. Accounts are for one person; don't share them. You must be 18 or older to hold one. Your handle is public and attaches to everything you post.
4. Discussion and the things you post
You own what you write. To actually run the discussion feature we need your permission to use it, so you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and distribute your posts as part of the service. You keep every other right, and you confirm you have the right to post what you post.
Don't post:
- Anything intended to manipulate a stock — pumping, coordinated promotion, or knowingly false claims about a company.
- Material non-public information, or anything you're under a duty to keep confidential.
- Spam, ads, undisclosed paid promotion, or automated posts.
- Content that impersonates someone, harasses, defames, infringes copyright, or breaks the law.
Posts are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours. We don't review content before it appears and we're not obliged to moderate — but we can. Any signed-in user can flag a post; enough distinct flags hide it automatically. We may remove or hide content, and restrict or refuse posting, at our discretion. New accounts are limited from posting on the smallest companies for a short period, because those are the easiest to manipulate.
5. Using the service fairly
Use FilingIndex for your own research. Don't crawl or automate it in a way that degrades it for everyone else, don't work around account limits or rate limits, don't resell or systematically redistribute what we produce, and don't reverse engineer the service. The underlying filings are public — if you need the raw corpus, take it from the SEC directly rather than from us.
6. Free now, and what happens if that changes
The service is free today, with some caps on the free tier. We may add paid plans later. If we do, we'll show you the price and the billing terms before you are charged, and it won't apply retroactively to anything you've already used. We may change, limit, or discontinue any feature.
7. What's ours and what isn't
SEC filings are public domain — we don't claim them, and neither should anyone. What we do own is the work built on top: our summaries, rankings, scores, taxonomy, design, code, and name. If you think something on the site infringes your copyright, email us at hello@filingindex.aiwith enough detail to find it and we'll look into it.
8. Ending it
You can stop using FilingIndex whenever you like, and you can ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@filingindex.ai. We can suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, manipulates the discussion, or puts the service or its users at risk — immediately, where the situation warrants it.
9. No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don't warrant that the data is accurate, complete, or current, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
10. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FilingIndex is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, nor for lost profits or any trading or investment losses arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything in it. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or US$100.
Some jurisdictions don't allow certain exclusions or limits. Where that's true, these apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Covering us
If a claim is brought against us because of what you posted or because you misused the service or broke these terms, you agree to cover the resulting costs and damages.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The effective date below always tells you which version is live, and we'll flag material changes on the site. Continuing to use FilingIndex after a change means you accept the new version.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and you and we consent to that venue. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
