On October 12, 2022, Applied Materials, Inc. (“Applied” or the “Company”), issued a press release following the announcement of new export regulations by the United States government and provided a business update for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022, ending on October 30, 2022. A copy of Applied’s press release is being furnished as Exhibit 99.1 hereto and is incorporated herein by reference. The United States government continues to release new rules and regulations expanding export license requirements for companies that sell certain products to customers in China. As a global business with customers, suppliers and operations in many countries around the world, Applied may from time to time receive inquiries from government authorities about transactions between Applied and certain foreign entities. Applied recently received a subpoena from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts requesting information relating to certain China customer shipments. The Company is cooperating with the government and is committed to compliance with global laws, including export controls and trade regulations.
