(b) On October 25, 2017, The New York Times Company (the Company) announced that James M. Follo, Executive Vice President and
Chief Financial Officer, would retire in early 2018. The Company will commence a search for Mr. Follos successor. A copy of the Companys press release announcing Mr. Follos planned retirement is attached hereto as Exhibit
99.1 and incorporated by reference herein.
