Item 7.01      Regulation FD Disclosure. On March 9, 2023, Unum Group (the "Company") made available a Supplemental Exhibit to illustrate the anticipated changes to the presentation of the Company's prior period financial results as a result of the modified retrospective adoption, effective January 1, 2023, of Accounting Standards Update No. 2018-12. In 2018, the Financial Accounting Standards Board issued Accounting Standards Update 2018-12, “Targeted Improvements to the Accounting for Long-Duration Contracts”. This update significantly amends the accounting and disclosure requirements for long-duration insurance contracts. The Company adopted this update effective January 1, 2023 using the modified retrospective approach with changes applied as of January 1, 2021, also referred to as the transition date. This information is being made available to provide investors with additional information regarding the expected impact of the accounting standards update to the Company's financial results and the presentation thereof prior to the Company's earnings release for the quarter ended March 31, 2023.
