Item 8.01 Other Events. On January 28, 2020, Unum Group (the “Company”) issued a news release announcing that Christopher Pyne has been appointed as Executive Vice President, Group Benefits, effective February 1, 2020. In this role, Mr. Pyne will report to the Company's Chief Operating Officer. Since joining a Unum Group predecessor company in 1992, Mr. Pyne has held positions of increasing responsibility within the Company’s U.S. distribution organization, most recently as Senior Vice President, Growth Operations and Distribution from June 2018 to February 2020 and as Senior Vice President, Core Segment from August 2012 to June 2018.
